My
work usually explores subjects that might be considered inconsequential,
unattractive or even disturbing at first sight: Such diverse things
as microscopic bacteria or urban debris might provide the inspiration
for my abstract, multi-layered oil paintings and prints. Through
a process of deconstruction, I hope to reveal the beauty that
lies in unexpected places, and this becomes the focus of my finished
pieces. As a result, my work is often aesthetically appealing,
yet it always retains traces of its origins. I aim to beguile,
intrigue and occasionally unsettle the viewer, taking them back
through my creative process so they too can find fascination in
things they might otherwise ignore.
